ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

From a leaf, to a tree,
to a forest of opportunities.

Folloe Foundation was established in 2018. Here, we create an ecosystem of growth and well-being. We help remote and regional communities transform and evolve into attractive places to live and work through education, sustainable infrastructure, and connectivity.

Rising poverty in rural areas of Greece including Milies in Northern Peloponnese, our founder’s Panos Germanos homeland, is often caused by urban migration of young people, limited employment prospects and a lack of solid infrastructure.

Empowering communities and people to become the drivers of change, creates a forest of opportunities for under-served areas to grow organically into active participants of the economy.

From the neurons of a leaf to the roots and branches of a tree, everything in nature is interconnected through a network of communication essential to the survival of flora.

Similarly, at Folloe Foundation, we create a network of meaningful support providing the right tools to local people and communities to help them thrive. Our work falls under three pillars:

EDUCATION

The seed of growth

Education is the best tool for people to empower themselves and gain applicable knowledge and skills. We partner with experts and organisations to train them, advice them and offer them hands-on experience. We also provide funding and technical support to enable community learning and growth.

POVERTY REDUCTION

From surviving to thriving

Our efforts to alleviate poverty focus on sustainable job creation and skills acquisition. We provide communities with tools, technology and practical know-how to lift themselves out of poverty and transform the places they live into bustling hotspots of economic activity.

SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

Empowerment through sustainability

We support communities to evolve through sustainable infrastructure. Necessities like telecommunications, energy, and water are crucial for the long-term success of a community, allowing residents to improve their own livelihoods and build their communities into attractive places to live for younger generations.

OUR APPROACH

Regaining autonomy through action.

Our methodology is based on the principles of empowerment, sustainability, and tangible results. We use hands-on, data-driven methods. We focus on engaging communities and we consult beneficiaries from the earliest stages of the process. Local people are involved in the planning, design, and implementation of projects, giving communities ownership and accountability.

Projects are a learning process, not only for communities we work with, but also for us. Throughout a project’s lifecycle, we adopt a constant and rigorous approach to monitoring and evaluation.

We use a ‘data-to-impact’ framework which employs a continuous ‘refine, implement, analyse, review’ cycle to ensure we can quickly adapt plans where needed to make certain a project is aligned with its original vision, goals and objectives.
We aim to create a long-term model applicable to rural and urban reinvigoration. Our objective is to turn communities into attractive places to live and work in, helping them grow and become autonomous.
